Speaking on Radio Jambo's 'Mazungumzo Waziwazi' on Tuesday evening, Kuria confirmed the rumour, noting that he is indeed warming up for the race to Statehouse in the 2022 polls.

Speaking on the same program, Sakaja lauded his bid, terming it a good and very promising move.

"Huu sio mzaha, namtakia kila la heri na wakati ukifika awaendee Wakenya awaombe uungaji mkono (this is a serious move whose realisation now depends on Kenyans)," said Sakaja.

The bid, however, remains unclear, as the parliamentarian is yet to officially declare his ambition for the house on the hill in the much-anticipated race.

Also, it comes in the backdrop of Deputy President William Ruto's ongoing lobbying for the same, as he seeks to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the same election.

Kuria is as well yet to clarify whether he will battle Ruto and others for the Jubilee party ticket in the primaries.

The declaration is expected to attract more reactions as time goes by, with most Kenyans yet to familiarise with it as political temperatures rise ahead of the contest.
