A 50-year-old man from Ritumbe village, Bendera in Kisii County died instantly after he consumed six (6) glasses of chang'aa alone.
The incident happened on Thursday afternoon.
Joseph Makori area assistant chief said the deceased Martin Aondo bought the chang'aa from a chang'aa den and went to his house where he consumed it alone.
"Aondo drunk all the 6 glasses of chang'aa alone in his house. He collapsed and died immediately he finished the last dot," said Makori.
Mr. Makori said the body of the deceased was recovered in his bedroom by his son who went to check on him.
"The deceased's son raised alarm after he found his father dead. His body was moved to Nyamache hospital morgue," noted the chief.
He fired warning shots to locals still engaging in illegal businesses.
"Locals who are still selling outlawed illicit brew must stop before the law catches up with them. I am going to lead in a crackdown in the area to flush out illegal traders," he said.
The administrator urged Nyumba Kumi officials to report villagers who are making, selling and distributing chang'aa in the area to ease arrests.
