Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i says police officers are human beings like other people and at times they can be found on the wrong side of the law.
While responding to questions at Egesa FM on Tuesday, the interior boss said that in the event officers are found on the wrong side of the law, the government has always acted upon them.
"Of course, police officers are not angels. At times they can mess around but we have always acted against them. Nobody is above the law, not even myself," he said.
Dr Matiang'i defended officers over extrajudicial killings, adding that those who have been found culpable, have either been sacked or subjected to court or both.
"For instance, we sacked the OCPD in Kenyenya region. The police who is accused of murdering bodaboda rider is now in court. We usually act with evidence and nobody is spared," noted Matiang'i.
He faulted Kenyans for failing to appreciate patriotism in police officers, saying many of them work under difficult situations to uplift the country's security.
"These are our brothers, fathers and sons. At times let's be kind to them. Some are in risky regions and they are serving the country well."
The interior boss also warned cattle thieves in Borabu region in Nyamira, insisting that the government will not spare those involved in the crime.
