Ngisiru mixed secondary school in Kuria west Sub County has been closed indefinitely following student unrest.
The students cited bad food, poor administrative leadership and demanded for the transfer of the school principal and the boarding mastrer over what they termed as incompetence.
Migori County Education Director Ms Elizabeth Otieno ordered the closure of the school on Monday afternoon after the student pelted the school vehicle with stones and threatened to destroy property.
“The student staged a protest over very minor issues. When you see students demonstrating over bad food and accommodation then it shows how unfocused they are. How can they protest over the food that they have eaten since the beginning of the year?" wondered Mrs Otieno.
Mrs Otieno said that she has deployed her officers on the ground to investigate the cause of the unrest
.“We have officers on the ground who are investigating the matter to establish the cause of the problem and come up with appropriate measures before they report back on Tuesday next week,” she said.
These comes just days after Kibuon secondary school in Nyatike was also closed indefinitely following students unrest over transfer of their principal.
