Nakuru Jubilee chairman David Manyara has accused a section of Nakuru leaders of plans to milk political capital from challenges dogging street children.
This after the homeless kids were allegedly rounded up by county officials and taken to a forest in Baringo at night where they were left.
This saw Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri and Senator Susan Kihika launch attacks against Governor Lee Kinyanjui and his administration.
Ngunjiri said he will take a motion to parliament to have action taken against the county boss.
Defending the governor, Manyara, speaking during an exclusive interview with Hivisasa in Nakuru, said the matter is being politicized as no child was dumped in a forest.
“Every child was being asked where they come from and taken back. Those from Bahati were taken there and those from Chemususu were taken there. There was nothing like dumping them in a forest,” Manyara, who is also a former Nakuru MP, said.
He hit out at Kihika and Ngunjiri saying they have been ignoring the street plight of the street children.
“Those children have been here for long and they (Kihika and Ngunjiri) did nothing yet they have money from the government. Ngunjiri has CDF and has not helped even one child,” Manyara said.
He added: “Why do they want to politicize this issue when we are trying to find a solution?”
The vocal politician called on all Nakuru leaders to come together and find a lasting solution for the street children challenge.
“If they have a solution, I call on them to come on the table so that we can find a solution instead of politicking,” the party leader added.
