The Ukambani political kingpin said he had nothing against the leaders who had decamped from his party.

“Recently, leaders inclined towards my party decamped to Jubilee, including the host Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua. I hand them over to you (President Kenyatta). Kindly take good care of them. We will compete at the realm of ideas,” Kalonzo said, as quoted by a local daily.

Kalonzo spoke during Mashujaa Day celebrations in Machakos town.

Responding to the Wiper leader's request, President Uhuru Kenyatta said even him (Kalonzo) is his.

"Kalonzo, hata wewe pia ni wangu [Kalonzo, you are also mine]," Kenyatta said.

Mutua later managed to secure his seat pending a case at the Supreme Court.

Before the 2017's presidential race, both  Kenyatta and Ruto tried to woo Kalonzo to leave ODM leader Raila Odinga but their efforts did not yield fruits.

The leaders believed Kalonzo’s crossover to Jubilee would have handed them a landslide win.

Kalonzo, however, refused to change his mind even after he was named Raila’s running mate.

His naming as Raila’s running mate caused a storm in the Ukambani region.

A section of leaders threatened to decamp to Jubilee including former Kitui West MP, the late Francis Nyenze.
