Deputy President William Ruto has asked the people of Kibra to vote for Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga in the forthcoming by-election.
Speaking during a rally in Kibra on Sunday, Ruto said that Mariga has proven that he has what it takes to be the next area MP, adding he is a leader who can deliver.
In a tone geared towards clinching the constituency considered to be an ODM zone, Ruto said "Kibra will never remain a hotbed of violence, a slum, a place synonymous with poverty ...We will never be lied to again."
He also promised that the region was bound to benefit from different projects from the national government if they honour their word.
"We have water, electricity and infrastructure problems in Kibra and it's only Mariga who will change this while working with President [Uhuru] Kenyatta," he added.
He added that the Jubilee government has plans to complete all stalled projects in the area.
Ruto further asked the residents to shun politics of division during the campaign season.
