Popular TV host Tony Gachoka on Thursday mocked Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen hours after being released from police cells in Kwale.
In a tweet, Gachoka claimed that there is a house within Diani that is on sale but claimed he won't have it sold to Murkomen. Instead, he said, he will purchase it.
"Enjoying my Diani home, by the way there is a house on sale but am told they don’t want neighbours like @kipmurkomen so I agree maybe I should just buy it to keep him away," he tweeted.
Gachoka is one of fierce critics of Deputy President William Ruto and has never hesitated to poke holes into his leadership whenever he gets opportunity.
He was arraigned at a Kwale magistrate court on Thursday and charged with creating a nuisance at the premises occupied by Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and being found in a state of intoxication.
The police record states that on Wednesday, at 11am, Gachoka refused to be screened at the airstrip entrance point and tried to force his entry aboard a Silverstone plane while carrying alcoholic drinks at Diani Airstrip in Ukunda.
Appearing before the principal Magistrate Joe Omido, Gachoka pleaded not guilty to both charges. Through his lawyer, Raphael Chimera, Gachoka filed an application for bail and bond.
Recently, Murkomen's interview with Gachoka on Point-blank show at KTN was cancelled, with the Elgeyo-Marakwet senator blaming Gideon Moi, whose family partly owns the station.
The TV host's case will be mentioned on 22nd October. He argued that his show is watched by millions of people around the world and that there was need for him to be given freedom.
