The government will not condone lazy contractors derailing government projects, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has warned.

Matiang'i who was elevated by President Uhuru Kenyatta to coordinate Government projects across the country, vowed that he will not work with lazy contractors. 

He said contractors working on government projects in Gusii region must complete the projects in time failure to which their contracts will be terminated.

"Government projects must be completed within the stipulated timeline. Contractors working on various road projects across Gusii region must work to complete the projects as required," he stated. 

Matiang'i confirmed that he will work with County Commissioners to ensure government projects are completed within the required time. 

"County Commissioners should not remain in this officers in uniforms, they must get out to supervise government projects. The commissioners have been issued with vehicles fueled to facilitate their transport across the counties to push contractors work," said Matiang'i.  

He maintained that in future the government will not allocate award contracts to lazy contractors who fails to complete government projects timely. 

Matiang'i was speaking on Saturday at Mekonge SDA, Sensi ward in Kitutu Chache North Kisii County. 

The Cs also opened Nyabonge dispensary in Sensi ward for locals to access medical services.
