Release of Wajinga Nyinyi song by rapper King Kaka on Saturday is seemingly making an impact on the country's political scene if the reaction to that song on social media is anything to go by.
In Uganda, nearly two years ago, another popular musician Bobi Wine, took the country's political terrain by storm.
While relying on his thousands of followers, and banking on his big name in music, Bobi Wine became an instant hit. Today, he is literally the voice of the opposition and other vulnerable groups in President Yoweri Museveni's Uganda.
So, is King Kaka following the same script in Kenya?
King Kaka is a popular figure in the country's entertainment industry. He is a veteran and enjoys a huge following. So, it is not surprising that his latest song has become an instant hit.
For three days now, hashtags have been generated. The who's who in the society have spoken. The civil society voices have not gone unnoticed. The "hustlers" too. And a majority of them have hailed the song saying King Kaka said what many Kenyans feared to say. So, what next?
Is the song most likely going to change the manner in which Kenyan politics is played in future? Or are Kenyans just hypocritical and end up making the past "mistakes" come to the next general election? Time will tell. But for now, the first test for Kenyans is whether they will stand with King Kaka especially after being "summoned" by DCI.
