Peninah Wangechi, a woman who got stabbed 17 times by her husband, Samuel Ndirangu back in April 2019 has asked the court to withdraw the assault case against him.

Appearing before Karatina Law Courts Principal Magistrate Alice Mwangi, Peninah said that she had forgiven her husband, Citizen Digital reports.

The woman further said that she wants the assault case against Ndirangu dropped.

According to Peninah, the move to forgive her husband and even withdraw the assault charge against him was her personal decision.

She denied having been threatened or influenced to make the decision. She also revealed to the court that she no longer lives with her husband. 

The court had to comply with the woman's request and set Ndirangu free. 

Following a family disagreement between the two, Peninah, a mother of three, got stabbed 17 times by her husband. She was stabbed in the face, chest and her back.

Fortunately, she was rushed to Karatina Sub-county Hospital, where she received treatment which saved her life.

At the hospital, doctors indicated that she had lost a lot of blood through bleeding but fortunately the knife cuts were not deep.

The husband had surrendered himself to the police and was detained at Karatina Police Station.
