Kenya Netball Federation president Immaculate Kabuthia addressed claims that the National Women netball team was stranded in Cape Town South Africa.

Kabuthia, on Friday said that the team has not been sidelined as claimed.  He insisted that the team has been well-take care of, adding that the rumors doing rounds on social media and other platforms are baseless and ill-motivated.

 The team had traveled out of the country to take part in the Africa Netball Championship in S.A before speculations went rife all over the internet. Kabuthia said that the allowances of the team were fully paid. 

She also extended her gratitude to CS Amina Mohamed and Sports Principal Secretary Kirimi Kaberia for supporting the team during the competition.

“The Government paid for our accommodation, visas, tournament fee and the air tickets. The accommodation and meals were all catered for by the Government,” Kabuthia said, as quoted by Standard.

The claims had caused uproar on social media. The netball fans and entire sporting fraternity appealed to Amina to take action with immediate effect. Amina lamented that her name was being blackmailed yet she had supported the team. 

She also faulted the Treasury for frustrating her docket. She alluded that the reduction of funding to her Ministry is among the reasons she is not performing well.
