Footballing legend Diego Maradona has been rushed to hospital after almost collapsing following Argentina's 2-1 win against Nigeria during Tuesday's, June 26, World Cup match in Russia.
Immediately Argentina stormed to victory, Maradona entered a wild celebratory mode where he almost laughed himself off the stadium barriers while giving the Nigerian team the middle finger.
Shortly after, the 57-year-old was seen to be in dire need of help across the stands. He was reportedly rushed to a health facility aboard an ambulance where he was attended to by physicians.
The 1986 World Cup winner through his Facebook denied being hospitalized and maintained that he was in perfect health and only suffered from a sore neck.
"I want to tell everyone that I am fine, that I am not, nor was I, hospitalized," he wrote.He went ahead and stated that he was advised to leave before halftime by a medic but he defied the directive.
"At half-time of the game against Nigeria, my neck hurt a lot and I suffered a decompensation. I was checked by a doctor and he recommended that I leave before the second half, but I wanted to stay because we were playing for everything. How could I leave? I send a kiss to everyone. Thanks for the support," Maradona wrote.
