A man's body that went missing from Montezuma Monalisa mortuary on Wednesday has been exhumed in Kasunguni village, Kilome sub-county in Machakos.
On Wednesday a court order was issued for the exhumation of the body with immediate effect.
The family of Samuel Kioko arrived at Montezuma Monalisa mortuary on Wednesday to pick the body of their father for burial only to find it missing.
The family wondered through the mortuary trying to find the body of their kin in vain.
After consultations with the management of the facility, the body was found to have been picked on Friday last week for burial by a different family.
The exhumation was conducted under the watch of the police.
After exhumation, the body was taken back to the facility in the evening as the family plans on another day for burial.
Efforts by members of the press to get comments from the director of the facility bore no fruits as he claimed to be too mad.
He ordered the Morgue's security guards manning the gates not to allow the attendant who was on duty when the second family mistakenly took away the body to gain access to the mortuary's compound.
