President Uhuru Kenyatta and his new 'partner' ODM leader Raila Odinga must support Deputy President William Ruto in his 2022 presidential bid, a political analyst has said.

According to Daisy Maritim Maina, if the duo opposes Ruto's bid and he manages to take over power, that will be the end of dynasties in Kenyan politics.

"Should the dynasties conspire to lock Ruto out, then he becomes president, the dynasties are cooked. Not pan-fried for one term or quickly braised over one election - they will be slow-cooked to perfection for generations to come, until they are tender with humility and heavily seasoned with regret. They will be boiled to submission," she notes.https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/article/2001300538/in-a-referendum-ruto-will-cook-the-elite-have-them-for-lunch

In a column published by Saturday Standard, the analyst opines the DP will achieve this by employing strong-arm tactics used by retired President Daniel Arap Moi who managed to rule for 24 years through cutting to size his political opponents.

"He (Ruto) won’t do them because he wants to, he will do it for the sake of survival, just as Mzee Moi did," she wrote.

Maina observed trying to stop the DP from occupying the House on the Hill would be 'impossible', and encouraged Uhuru and Raila to back him so that he can protect their interests, and that of other elites, when he takes over power.

"In short, blocking Ruto from attaining the ultimate political prize, the presidency, is like fighting the tide. If the tide is coming in, it is coming in; no earthly king (or dynasties in this case) can stop it," stated the analyst who is currently pursuing a PhD in Political Economy at SMC University.
