For two days they held peaceful demonstrations in protest of what they termed as frustrations they are undergoing.

They said the area is rich in natural resources but most community members are still languishing in poverty due to alleged mistreatment and poor pay from the mining company.

Responding to the matter, Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako said the presence of an investor mining tones of iron ore has not solved their problems either.

On Saturday, the lawmaker met the residents for candid deliberations with the community where they agreed to put aside their divisions and pursue an approach that will be beneficial to both parties.

The community demanded to meet the investor with the lawmaker demanding that "therefore work should be halted until the investor meets the people."

The parties also agreed that in two months a 15 member Community Development Agreements Committee should be set up as provided by Mining Act 2016 and the 2017 Mining regulations.
