Divisions have rocked Jubilee Party since Raila agreed to work with Uhuru. For months now, Ruto and his team have openly accused Mr Odinga of working hard to destroy the party from within, a claim the ODM boss has often dismissed.

According to Alai, State of the Nation address by Uhuru in parliament informed the meeting. He claims that the two leaders were concerned with Ruto's grip on MPs.

"Uhuru and Raila met on Sunday night. Ruto was the subject of discussion. Hence yesterday’s meeting with Rift Valley leaders," wrote Mr Alai on Twitter.

Further, he says, Mr Odinga proceeded to hold a meeting with ODM MPs to discuss the influence of the DP which they claim is on an upward trajectory. It's however not clear where Uhuru met Raila.

"During SOTN address by UK, Raila found Ruto to be more popular with MPs ignoring him but mobbing the latter. Night meeting with ODM MPs later held in Karen," added Mr Alai.

While the news cannot be independently verified, Mr Odinga is lately a frequent visitor to State House. On Saturday at Migori, he vowed to continue working with Mr Kenyatta despite th resistance.

Over the weekend, Raila's elder brother Dr Oburu Oginga, said he's of the opinion that Mr Odinga withdraws formally from handshake. According to him, Jubilee's laxity in the fight against corruption could soil Raila's reform credentials.
