Yet again, Deputy President William Samoei Ruto's function has been greeted with the absence of officers working under the presidency.

At around 10:40 am on Friday morning, DP Ruto landed in Nyamira county only to be received by local area politicians led by the Mugirango West legislator Vincent Kemosi, Shadrack Mose of Kitutu Masaba MP and Borabu's  Ben Momanyi.

Incidentally, the local County Commissioner Amos Mariba together his entire security team were missing in action. This, alone, raises concern as to whether DP Ruto is slowly becoming a lone ranger in the Jubilee government.

Since the Deputy President is part of the presidency, the protocol has it that respective regional representatives should be present in all functions presided by either President Kenyatta or even DP Ruto. However, this has not been the case for the latter's most recent visits.

That police were present in Ruto's Friday tour is not enough to say the presidency was well represented. As a matter of fact, even the smallest of village meetings might have police presence as a situation might demand.

Barely a fortnight ago, there were widespread claims that Ruto took on Interior Permanent Secretary (PS)  Karanja Kibicho at JKIA, allegedly for sabotaging his countrywide tours.

Going by the twin events, it is apparent that DP Ruto might sooner or later, become a lone ranger in his visits even as he lays the ground for 2022 campaigns.
