Mr Kipkorir has now called for the Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) to be disbanded with immediate effect over the incident saying that it has failed to guarantee the safety of those who make use of the ferries.

In a bilstering tweet on Monday, the outspoken lawyer and socio-political commentator wondered what the management team and board of directors do.

"For many years, have asked the role of Kenya Ferry Services .. It has a Management Team & Board Of Directors ..

"The business they have covers 500 Metres .. What do they do every day? Planning how to import second hand ferries from Turkey? KFS should be disbanded .. #LikoniFerry," his tweet read.

The sinking of the car which is said to have had 3 occupants inside has sparked an uproar among Kenyans and serious safety concerns.

The KFS, in a statement on Sunday after the incident, said that investigations had been launced to determine the circumstances of the sinking.

Kipkorir's strong words add to the chorus of angry calls from Kenyans who want KFS directors to be held to account
