Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has noted that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is now 'ripe' to form a government in 2022.
Oparanya who is also ODM deputy party leader revealed that their coalition partners have not 'yielded much' in the last general elections and they have now improved on the methods they will be using to get a winning team in the much-anticipated election.
“The choice of partners has been our undoing in the last two presidential elections. We are keen to do it differently this time. I can assure you it will be the winning team; we will form the next government,” the governor said as quoted by Nation.
The sentiments come after ODM members were joined by Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua and their Kitui counterpart Charity Ngilu who had camped in Kibra to drum up support for their candidate Bernard Okoth.
Dr Mutua confirmed that his party Maendeleo Chap Chap will be working hand in hand with ODM in 2022 general elections so that they can front leaders who are ready to transform the country.
“My party will consult with ODM on how we will field candidates in the 2022 General Election so that we get the numbers to change this country,” Mutua said.
Raila Odinga who sought the Presidency under National Super Alliance (NASA) in 2017 has, however, not stated whether he will vie or not in 2022.
