Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has condemned the Lamu-bus attack by the suspected Al Shabaab militia.

 Three persons have been confirmed dead and others injured after a suspected Al-Shabaab militia attacked a Lamu bound bus on Thursday. 

Joho said that the attack is cowardly. He asked the families of the victims of the attack to remain strong during this moment of trial.

“I am extremely saddened by the news of yet another suspected terror attack that targeted a bus transporting passengers to Lamu. Several people are believed to have been killed and many others injured in the incident that occurred earlier today at Nyongoro area,” he said.

He added: “This is unacceptable in this day and age. We have no choice but to be accommodative & tolerant of one another. I urge security agencies to move with speed and apprehend those behind this heinous attack. My deepest condolences and sympathy go out to the affected families.”Confirming the incident, Lamu County Commissioner Irungu Macharia said that the incident occurred at Nyongoro area. The details of the number of attackers and occupants of the bus remain unclear.

"I have heard of such an incident but I am headed to the scene...I am also liaising with officers on the ground. Details on injuries, casualties or the bus company are yet to be established but I'll give details soonest," Macharia told the Nation. The incident come after the US warned Kenya of a possible terror attack.
