Although the powerful minister is yet to decide, all indications are that he could be going for a top seat in 2022 polls given his recent high profile meetings among Abagusii leaders.

Last week, Dr Matiang'i met at least 15 MPs from Nyamira and Kisii Counties in his Harambee House offices where he discussed matters development with them.

But West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi on Tuesday asked Matiang'i to concentrate on his tasks, adding that a number of brokers has hijacked him.

"I haven't heard the CS talking about going for president. Those pushing him to run are dangerous brokers who are out to con him. He should work first and avoid them," he said.

"Personally, Matiang'i has not told me that he's contesting for anything. We are only seeing brokers around him. He should first seat down with us."

Asked whether he can vote for Matiang'i should he find his name on ballot, the Ford Kenya legislator said Matiang'i should first reach out to all other tribes.

"As Abagusii, we cannot be able to produce a president on our own. If he wants to contest, let him first reach out to other tribes. Thereafter, we can sit and talk," he added.

In the past few weeks, a number of leaders led by Governor John Nyagarama and Senator Okong'o Mogeni, have been rallying for Matiang'i presidency.
