With just over 35 months to the next polls, Deputy President William Ruto has earmarked Kisii and Nyamira Counties as some of the swing regions.
For a decade now, Abagusii community has supported ODM leader Raila Odinga, who has managed to win majority votes in the last three elections.
In his return on Thursday, DP Ruto saw his team at the region pushing for his presidency, despite attacks from another team leaning towards Dr Fred Matiang'i.
Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, who led the team, said Abagusii will endorse Dr Ruto due to his development record, adding that the move was unstoppable.
"This is home and you're welcome all the time. Forget about some noises around. I can assure you that you'll win by landslide," said Maangi.
South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro was even more open, dismissing the Matiang'i team as opportunists looking for favours from goverment.
"They are in government yet they cannot perform. They are now rallying behind a civil servant instead of giving him humble time to perform," he said.
Others who joined Ruto at Kisii National Polytechnic graduation were Richard Tong'i (Nyaribari Chache), Shadrack Mose (Kitutu Masaba) and Vincent Kemosi of West Mugirango.
Dr Ruto assured the leaders that Jubilee administration will continue rolling out projects to the region, adding that voters will make judgement in 2022.
