Three people, two police officers and an elderly man have been reported dead in West Pokot.
Confirming the first incidence on Friday, Pokot South sub-county Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Frederick Kimanga said that a police officer, Kelvin Itolovolia murdered his father who had gone to solve a family misunderstanding.
"The police officer is attached at Chepkono police post. The father came to discuss with his son some domestic issues. During the consultation, that is when Itolovolia grabbed an arrow and stabbed his father on the chest several times. The father died on the spot," said Kimamga as quoted by Standard.
The police said that they had to shot Itolovolia during the incidence as he tried to snatch a gun from one of them.
Kimamga pointed out that the officer was shot after he turned violent to his fellow officers.
"The cop died while he was being taken to Kapenguria referral hospital. We ended up losing a father and a son," he said as quoted by Standard.
In the third incidence, the police have launched investigations into the death of police Inspector Benjamin Tirop.
Tirop was found dead inside a guesthouse in Makutano town. The officer was on duty manning national examination container at Tapach area.
"In the evening, the police officer asked for permission to rush to Makutano town saying that he wasn't feeling well. He was granted permission to seek treatment only to be found dead on Friday morning in a guest house, " said the DCC.
