Muthama said having three presidential candidates in Ukambani region is evident that the community is divided.

He said the only certified and stamped Kamba leader is Kalonzo Musyoka, others are just a distraction.

"Nimesikia kuna candidate Makueni, mwingine Machakos alafu tuna Kalonzo. Nataka kuuliza hawa wengine wazime ndoto zao ili Kalonzo aweze kusimama peke yake ili tuwe na sauti moja Kama jamii. [I have heard there's a candidate in Makueni, another in Machakos then Kalonzo. I want to urge these others to shelve their presidential aspirations so that Kalonzo can carry the day for the sake of the community," Muthama said.

Muthama spoke during a church service in Tala, Matungulu Sub-county on Sunday.

The controversial politician said he was trying to avoid such occurrences when he asked other leaders from the Ukambani region to dissolve their "briefcase" political parties and join Wiper in 2016.

He also joined other leaders in sending messages of condolences to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka over his father's death.

Peter Musyoka Mairu died on Sunday morning.
