Uhuru on January 22 appointed Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi the Chair of the National Development Implementation and Communication Committee.

This put him in charge of cabinet development oversight, a move has been observed as a blow to Ruto who has been crisscrossing the nation supervising development projects.

But Osiany now claims that Uhuru has instead smoothened Ruto's path ahead of the 2022 polls where he is eyeing the presidency.

"Ruto cannot take offence over the appointment because it frees him from government issues and gives him an opportunity to concentrate on his 2022 presidential dream," he said.

"Uhuru saw that Ruto's hands are full and he is so much into the 2022 issue and decided to free him. It's not a secret that Ruto's mind is largely invested in becoming president in 2022," he added.

The former Rongo parliamentary aspirant was speaking in an interview on KBC English Service's The Big Conversation show on Wednesday morning.

He said that the appointment does not reduce the DP to Matiangi's junior, as he remains part of the presidency, the highest ranked institution in the country.

According to the commentator, Ruto remains Uhuru's strategic advisor though he might no longer be seen going round as was the case initially.
