They are simply too powerful to separate as their formidable chemistry on radio is like what Kikuyus would describe as 'gikwa na mukungugu' (the yam and it's support).
It is unfathomable to think how one would sound like without the other as what endears them to their respective Kikuyu listeners is their ability to rhyme so well while on air to an extent that you feel that musical and commercial breaks are rude disruptions to your ears.
While this is a difficult fête to achieve especially where the presenters involved are engaged in an unnecessary 'battle' over the microphone, the below 5 combinations of Kikuyu radio presenters have been able to overcome this which has in turn won them a huge loyal fanbase for a lengthy period of time.
1. Man Simo & Katta
The two presenters have perhaps maintained the longest invincible chemistry on Kikuyu radio which has seen them make in-roads across all the major Kikuyu radio stations.
Since their days at KBC's Coro FM to Inooro FM and now Kameme FM, Man Simo & Katta have proved inseparable and the unrivaled Kings of Kikuyu radio drive shows.
2. Pastor JJ and Wanjiku Wa Njuguna
They are the presenters behind Inooro FM's adult-rated weekly show, 'Hutia Mundu' that has been around since the Royal Media Services radio station launched in 2003.
Previous attempts by either of the two to go it alone say in a different radio station have backfired badly on the 'prodigal' presenter leading him or her to go back to the show where it all started.
3. Gatonye Wa Mbugua and Muthee Kiengei
The duo currently hosts Kameme FM breakfast show 'Arahuka'. The duo shot to fame few years ago while hosting the station's nightly show dubbed 'Mawatchman'.
Their formidable chemistry would see them moved to the prime breakfast show as a result of the huge fanbase they had managed to amass during the evening show.
4. Nderitu Waihura and Prof Ngugi Njoroge
They have hosted Inooro FM's nightly show 'Keera' for over 15 years now. Their good on-air combination enables them to analyze and expound on the day's politics giving their huge listenership a deeper understanding of what is unfolding on the country's political landscape.
5. Muthoni Wa Kirumba and Comedian Kihenjo
Whether these two co-hosts of Kameme FM's midmorning show, 'Canjamuka' have a good on-air chemistry or otherwise, it is debatable.
But we can at least agree that Kihenjo's endless humour blended with Muthoni's chattiness and laughter in a way makes the two a force to reckon with.
