Speaking during an interview at Hope FM on Tuesday morning, Dena said that unemployment is a global challenge and Kenya, just like other countries, is struggling with this situation.

She noted that there are many opportunities outside offices that youths can venture into and make a living.

"The young people are many and not all can fit in offices. In fact, the offices are full. There are many opportunities out there; unemployment crisis won't end soon and that's why there's a need for youths to think outside the box on how to self-employ themselves with the skills they have," said Dena.

She added that youths can be involved in the government's Big Four agenda where various platforms have been created by the government to accommodate them.

"The youth are based in different places and we need to have a bigger picture to see that they can be accommodated on the agenda. Youths can venture into farming and shun the perception that farming is for the uneducated," she said.

"Also they have the opportunity to get into these manufacturing companies, the universal health care programme and other things but the youths need to want them in order to get them," added the State House Spokesperson.

Dena observed that county governments have programmes for the youths that can empower them but "youths have to get over the high expectations first".
