Lawyer Kethi Kilonzo has been very vocal on matters of national interest and had, last year, advised Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga to take part in the October 26 repeat polls, which he ignored.

According to Kethi,  Raila risked losing the support of his people if he bolted out of the repeat polls.

"A sustained electioneering period beyond the 60 days mandated by the constitution and pronounced by the Supreme Court will not in any way advantage you or the people you are seeking to lead,”  she said as quoted by Kenyans.co.ke

The lawyer said that the opposition chief needed to keep the fire burning by taking part in the exercise.

"The ardor of your supporters will be dampened. Their strength will soon be exhausted. Their spirit will wane," she quipped.

The Former Prime Minister shocked the nation when he said that he was not ready to take part in another election after the Supreme Court nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win after the bungled August 8 polls.

According to Raila, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was not ready to conduct a free and fair election as stated in the constitution.

He asked the commission to give into his irreducible minimums before he could go back to the ballot."I won't participate in October 26 poll or sign Form 24A to officially withdraw from the race," Odinga stated.
