Police on Monday nabbed bhang estimated to be worth Sh800, 000 in Thika.
According to Thika West OCPD Paul Kiriki, the officers nabbed seven sacks of the illegal drug after intercepting a Toyota Probox car which was reportedly transporting the same to unknown drug barons in Kiandutu.
Kiriki noted that the officers who were working on a tip-off from members of the public ambushed the driver as he was offloading the product, forcing him to speed off leaving the bhang behind.
“My officers spotted a Probox offloading some luggage and they approached to check what was transpiring. The driver of the car sensed danger and sped off, leaving behind the seven bags that had already been offloaded,” said Kiriki, as quoted Thika Town Today.
The police boss added that his officers have since launched a manhunt for the driver.
Kiriki said they are yet to establish the identity of the intended recipient of the product, as well as the registration number of the car which sped off before the officers could record its details.
The OCPD further urged citizens to aid the force by reporting any suspicious activities, adding that the police will soon catch up with the suspects involved in the deal and their associates.
“I would like to warn them that their days are numbered and very soon we are going to apprehend even those who have been supplying these drugs,” he added.
