This comes at a time when the party seems to be limping and on the verge of collapse.

A section of members allied to Deputy President William Ruto have been calling for a Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting to iron out the increasing differences between their side and that of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

However, the National Assembly Majority Whip now claims that all his attempts to reach the SG over the issue has been futile, alleging that the former Rarieda MP is not picking his calls.

“I have been approached by members. I tried reaching Tuju but he did not answer my calls,” he told the Standard.

The remarks have, however, been dismissed by Tuju who said that nobody has approached him on the issue, adding that the right channel must be followed.

“People should be genuine when they call for a PG meeting. It should not be like they are spoiling for a fight. We want constructive meetings,” he said.

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, another ally of the DP, said that they will use all constitutional means at their disposal, including meeting in small groups.

He said that the meeting is not a must it be held at the State House at a time when the group has been seeking answers on Uhuru's dalliance with ODM boss Raila Odinga.

“We will convene in groups and once we get the quorum, pick a venue, whether State House or any other place,” said the first time MP.

They have also been pushing Uhuru to give answers on his stand on Ruto's 2022 presidential ambitions, a bid he promised to back but now appears non-committal.

Also in the list is his disapproval of some members engaging in early campaigns Ruto, a situation that saw him give them a dressing down on Sunday, citing disrespect.
