Wajir Women Representative Fatuma Gedi troubles continue after her name was mentioned into the bribery allegations that saw a report on contraband sugar rejected two months ago.
Gedi who has denied bribing some MPs to reject the report has since lost her position as the chairperson of the Kenya Women Representatives caucus group.
The Wajir MP has been stripped of the position on grounds that her conduct and service delivery is questionable.
Gedi who is serving her second term in office, however, says that she is innocent of bribery allegations.
Gedi states she never facilitated or bribed MPs to reject the sugar report.
According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Gedi could lose her seat if allegations of bribery are confirmed against her.
He notes that the Jubilee MP could also find herself in court over the bribery allegations.
“The MP's career hangs in balance especially if the investigative reports implicates her in the bribery allegations,” he said on Wednesday.
Ngure said that Gedi, a vocal Somali politician could taint his future political career if she is implicated.
“She is a promising politician in Northern Kenya but now her career hangs in balance,” the analyst added.
While appearing before the Power and Privileges Committee chaired by National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi two weeks ago, Gedi denied bribing MPs.
Gedi said that she only lobbied lawmakers to reject the sugar report.
The DCI and EACC are actively probing allegations that some MPs pocketed bribes to reject the contraband sugar report.
