The Senate Minority Leader has heightened political temperatures in the country following his statement about possible impeachment of DP William Ruto over gross misconduct.

At Citizen TV on Tuesday, Orengo accused Ruto of insubordination, adding that the DP can easily be subjected to impeachment based on corruption allegations he's facing.

"The impeachment doesn't necessarily require grounds like in criminal trial. There is no need for me to go to Karura (DCI) when I have a different tool which is a political process," argued Orengo.

Further, he said: "We have seen him oppose efforts by government to fight corruption and that's insubordination. He has also admitted purchasing land fraudulently among many things. This are things that can have him kicked out by parliament."

According to Orengo, the impeachment avenue is a constitutional tool that can be used to achieve same objectives like using the DCI to have a sitting president or deputy removed.

Mr Orengo further said his impending impeachment motion against DP William Ruto is not unique since he has initiated such processes before. He was referring to 1997 attempt to kick out Daniel Moi.

A section of MPs allied to Ruto have accused ODM leader Raila Odinga of allegedly using Orengo to have Ruto removed so that he takes over the position of Deputy President of the country.
