Chief Justice David Maraga will on Friday return to his Nyamira backyard, four days after elevating for judges from the larger Gusii region.
Maraga will launch a newly built Nyamira High Court block, whose construction has been underway since 2016 when he first took over as Chief Justice.
Governor John Nyagarama said all is set to have the Chief Justice, adding that the new building will give extra space needed in the court.
"The Chief Justice will be here on Friday and we are delighted to have him around. Development is what our people need and we are thankful to the judiciary," he said.
Law Society of Kenya South Nyanza chair Wilkins Ochoki, who is in Mombasa for LSK conference, said newly built courts will decongest the small area that had been used before.
"It's a milestone and we thank the Chief Justice for what he has done. It will decongest the small area we have been using. This is a milestone," he said.
Incidentally, Maraga was heaped with praises on Tuesday when he promoted four senior lawyers from the region to Environment and Lands court and that of Employment and Labour.
Esther Asati, who was director of legal services in Nyamira will be in Environment and Lands court. Similarly, Fred Nyagaka, the Dean School of Law in Kisii University joins her.
Mrs Jackline Mogeni, the wife to Nyamira Senator Okong'o Mogeni, will also join the lands court. Kebira Ocharo, a politician to to speak, will be in employment court.
