An elected Member of Parliament in Kisii County has said that the Gusii community is ready for the presidency.
While speaking on Saturday at Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega County during the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) forum, Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka noted that the community has all it takes to clinch the leadership of this country.
"I want to say here without fear that as a community we are ready for the presidency. BBI will ensure there is no exclusivity in matters governance. I urge all leaders irrespective of their political parties to throw their weight behind the BBI," he said.
The vocal lawmaker wondered why a section of politicians are opposing the BBI which is meant to end tribalism, corruption and ensure equal distribution of resources to the counties.
He lauded Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula and Amani National Congress Party Musalia Mudavadi for turning up for the BBI meeting.
"I am happy my party leader Wetangula agreed to attend the BBI meeting and Mudavadi. BBI is the only way we can use to end tribalism and ensure inclusivity. I urge those still yet to make a decision to do faster and be part of the journey," he added.
