The arrest of Deputy Chief Philomena Mbete Mwilu on Tuesday over corruption allegations has caused the Judiciary and the entire government panic and fear, political analyst Peter Ngure says.
Ngure also says that corruption cartels are shivering as Director of Public Prosecutions stamps his authority in war against corruption.
According to the political and governance analyst, it is not business as usual in government and that everyone is afraid.
“Top government officials who have previously been named in graft scandals are living in fear because they don’t know who is next,” he said on Wednesday.
Ngure says that the arrest of Mwilu who is the second in command in Judiciary is a clear warning that DPP Haji and his Director of Criminal Investigations counterpart George Kinoti are not joking.
“The arrest of DCJ Mwilu is a warning as far as corruption matters are concerned,” he says.
Dunstan Omari, a Nairobi based analyst also says that Haji’s moves are causing great fear.
"The Lords of impunity and corruption are worried because of the force the DPP is using in war to expose them, ” he said.
Mr Omari says that Haji and Kinoti are brilliant leaders who will not spare anyone in war against corruption.
“These guys (DPP Haji and DCI Kinoti) are fearless and will go straight to the doors of corrupt officials,” he added on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Haji ordered for arrest and prosecution of DCJ Mwilu over corruption allegations.
Mwilu is out on a Sh 5 Million personal bond even as the High Court suspended her prosecution until October 9.
On Thursday, DPP Haji ordered for the arrest of Agriculture Principal Secretary Richard Lesiyampe and others over a Sh 6 Billion scandal at the National Cereals and Produce Board.
The DPP who hails from Garissa county says that he is independent and is not being influenced by anyone on the purge against graft.
