Makueni Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana has been dragged into an assault case involving his security officer. The second term governor’s aide is accused of assaulting former Wote/Nziu MCA Sammy Maseka in a burial ceremony in Itandi village, Makueni constituency on Saturday.

The security guard Muinde Nzioka, allegedly punched the former MCA after he made what he believed were derogatory remarks against his boss. 

The legislator allegedly said that Kibwana was not fit to succeed former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka as the two leaders continue to differ over the leaders of Wiper.

The victim claims that the county boss was not present that the scene but the security guard had been sent.  “He jumped on my neck, twisted it and rained blows on me before throwing me to the ground. I live with a metal strip on my hand due to a fracture I got some time back that was also twisted,” he said.

Makueni Police Commander Joseph Naipeiyan confirmed the incident saying the matter has been recorded. Kibwana and Kalonzo have been in good terms.

Kibwana wants the former Vice President to be replaced as the Kamba political kingpin. He believes he is unfit for the post after he agreed to be President Uhuru Kenyatta’s errand boy. Kibwana with Alfred Mutua (Machakos) and Charity Ngilu (Kitui) have faulted Kalonzo for allegedly using MCAs to frustrate them.
