A middle aged man bit and chewed a friend’s left ear after he was denied a cigarette to smoke.

This happened at Bonyaikoma Village,Kitutu Chache North Constituency on Sunday.

According to Wilson Ongeri, an observer who witnessed the whole incident, the man was paranoid and jumped on his friend, cut off his left ear with his teeth and chewed it out of rage.

His friend ran away for safety while blood oozing from the damaged ear.

“I was standing by the road side when the man came and asked the other man who was suspected to be his friend from the way they were talking, to give him the remaining piece of the cigarette to smoke.” Ongeri said.

"His friend shouted at him calling him a selfish man who is too economical. He was annoyed and jumped onto his friend,cut the friend’s ear with his teeth and chewed it.” He added.

The area Chief Geofrey Gichana confirmed the incident after the man was rushed to Marani hospital. He warned the residents saying such petty wrongs can land some locals into a big trouble.

“It is so sudden that someone can hurt the other because of a cigarette that costs five shillings. It is very wrong and I must take a stern action toward the man who cut off the other’s ear.” he said.
