Deputy President William Ruto has only two options remaining, after the humiliation he has reportedly being subjected to while in government, political analyst Herman Manyora has said.
There have been reports that Ruto was last weekend kicked out of his official Mombasa residence, which has been blamed on the widening rift between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Manyora says that things are indeed getting hot for the DP in government, and he will soon have to make a decision on whether to remain behind and stomach his troubles or resign.
He says that the two are the only remaining options for the DP, both of which come with their own consequences. Manyora has however termed an exit as the best option for Ruto at the time.
"He should choose whether to leave Jubilee and government as a way to avoid further humiliation, as a way of ensuring that his troops are not casualties and as a way of showing that he is a man in his own right," he said.
He spoke in a recorded analysis updated on his YouTube channel on Saturday.
He observed that the other option should be to stand his ground but be ready to embrace the man who has been blamed for his troubles, ODM leader and Uhuru's new ally Raila Odinga.
According to Manyora, taking this option will mean that the DP will have to strike a deal with the two regarding their truce dubbed the handshake, and embrace it.
"The other option would be to remain there but yield to the BBI (Building Bridges Initiative) and sit down with Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta and strike a deal with them," he added.
The DP is currently seen as the greatest barrier to the realisation of the BBI constitutional amendment push, which enjoys the backing of both Kenyatta and Odinga.
His reservation for the initiative, has landed him under attack from President Kenyatta and Odinga allies.
