The DP, who has since declared interest in the presidency in the 2022 general polls, has not been having it easy lately, with a section of leaders openly coming out against his bid.

Barasa on Thursday rubbished claims that the DP's bid will be futile, as is being claimed by his critics, terming it the working of the faceless powerful individuals in the country.

He said that the group that has been selling the narrative that Ruto cannot make it to the top seat as President Uhuru Kenyatta's successor, an argument he says holds no water at all.

“The perception that Ruto cannot make it has been created by the so-called Deep State, a group of individuals holding no positions in government but who call the shots," he is said on Friday.

On the contrary, he predicted that the DP will have it easy succeeding Uhuru in 2022.

This he based on Ruto's regular project launches, which he said has seen the DP penetrate into most parts of the country.

“The DP has penetrated all parts of the country by launching projects even those that should not be flagged off by a person of his status,” he added.

However, the DP's projects have also been questioned by those who argue that they never go past the launch stage.
