The agenda of the meeting which was attended mainly by leaders perceived to be against DP Ruto’s political supremacy in the region remains unclear.

Some of the leaders who attended the meeting gave out contradicting information about the agenda of the meeting and thus eliciting mixed reactions from the residents and Kenyans.

Gideon Moi is said to be eyeing the country’s top seat in 2022 and is likely to battle it out with the Deputy President William Ruto who have already declared his bid and this has led to political division in the region where the two politicians hail from.

The leaders were led by one of Ruto’s top critic in the region and Chama Cha Mashinani party leader Isaac Ruto, former Roads Minister Franklin Bett, Former Kipkelion West legislator Magerer Langat and Elgeyo Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos.

Although the senator through Facebook said that he hosted the leaders to witness a music festival, Magerer Langat and Nick Salat gave out information.

"Through co-curricular activities like music festivals, education continues to impart into our children, the deeper sense of our progressive cultures, traditions while simultaneously shedding light about the basal issues in our country," senator Moi posted.

But according to Magerer Langat, they met to discuss the government plans to evict over 60,000 families from their lands at the highly disputed Mau forest.

"This morning I joined other leaders of goodwill in a breakfast meeting in Kabarak to discuss the impending Eviction of more than 60,000 families from their farms so that government can plant bamboo," reads part of Langat's post on Facebook.

On his part, KANU party Secretary General Nick Salat  said that they met to discuss the current state of the Kalenjin politics. "Kalenjin leaders meeting to discuss Kalenjin leadership and the way forward," said Nick Salat.
