In a tweet, the SCPU noted that they arrested three National Police Service (NPS) officials and one Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) official.

"3 @NPSOfficial_KE Constables; Simon Gichui, Florence Karuku & Caroline Waithera & @kdfinfo Corporal-Eunice Wangari were last night arrested by #SCPU Detectives in Connection with the ATM Heist at Nairobi West. A motor vehicle suspected to be proceeds of the crime kept as exhibit," wrote the DCI.

More suspects had initially been arrested and some cash recovered. Various vehicles suspected to have been used in this crime have also been impounded by the police officers.

A few weeks ago, people posing as police officers stole 13 bags with Sh72 million shillings at Nairobi West.

The money was being taken to a Standard Chartered Bank ATM when the incident occurred.

Seven G4S officers were transporting the cash accompanied by police officers. However, on arrival at the ATM, the police officers ordered them to surrender the cash.

So far, the G4S officers have been arrested and charged in court. Investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
