Atwoli says that the same has the blessing of the majority of Kenyans, telling off politicians opposed to the proposed constitutional changes.

He took issue with Deputy President William Ruto who has been in the front line in opposing the same, daring him to come out and openly demonstrate his opposition.

He advised Ruto to stop opposing President Uhuru Kenyatta who has also supported the push and resign from his seat the was founding Vice President Oginga Odinga did in 1966.

“If you don’t want it and as a deputy President, what you can do is what Jaramogi Oginga Odinga did in 1966, you just walk out of government,” he was quoted by the Monday Standard.

He advised Ruto who also leads a group of allied who have also openly opposed the changes which seek to among others expand the Executive to form his team and oppose it.

According to the vocal trade unionist, the nation badly needs the executive expansion to address the exclusion feeling among presidential election losers and their supporters.

He termed it as the only remaining remedy for the recurrent post election row menace.

"For us to have peaceful elections we must revisit our constitution particularly in the area of governance, so that this issue of whoever wins takes it all is rejected by Kenyans,” he added.

The referendum push is being headed by opposition leader Raila Odinga who has also proposed the reintroduction of the parliamentary governance system.
