Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei is the latest leader to weigh-in on the heating fake gold saga debate, and alleged impeachment motion against Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i.
Speaking on Wednesday, the Senator rubbished claims that a section of Jubilee Party members are plotting to oust the CS, terming them hot air.
He termed the claims diversionary tactics being employed by people out to disrupt the government operations and peddle confusion and division within Jubilee.
Cherargei, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto denied being aware of any such plans despite being well within the party whose members are said to be working on the plot.
"I have not heard of any talks to impeach Matiang’i. It’s as fake as the gold in question. Those are just diversionary tactics that do not hold water," he said on Citizen TV's JKL show, Wednesday evening.
The claims were made on Monday by National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi, who noted that the plan is being spearheaded by forces close to DP Ruto.
Speaking in the same interview, the Suba South MP insisted that the plan was in place but has since been halted, adding that he received the information from some Jubilee insiders.
"I have a responsibility to Kenyans to whistle blow and that is what I did. I got the information from some of the leaders from the Jubilee side," said Mbadi.
The debate has been the most discussed lately after the name of Matiang'i was dragged into the Sh400 million fake gold scandal.
