The handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has been argued by political pundits as the turning point in DP Ruto's ambition to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta as the fifth President of Kenya.
The statements made by the former Jubilee party vice-chairman David Murathe made the situation worse.
However, according to political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi in his fifth estate analysis, DP Ruto's impatience and predictable approaches are the ones that will cost him the presidency.
He relates DP Ruto's situation to what has happened previously in the Kenyan political scene.
"Ruto has fallen into the same trap that Raila Odinga and TJ Mboya did, Raila would have inherited Mwai Kibaki and TJ Mboya could have inherited Jomo Kenyatta but like Ruto both were impatient, " he said.
"If these men knew what we know now, they would have lied, then we would have given them the presidency and maybe Ruto should just lie to us instead of being too obvious, " added the analyst.
