Molo MP Kuria Kimani’s job is at stake after he appeared in public while drunk.
Five voters from Molo Constituency have now embarked on a mission to kick out the lawmaker after the incident.
The residents claim that the lawmaker showed that he is incompetent, arguing that he should be recalled with immediate effect. The residents are; David Kibe, Robert Njenga, Vincent Tanui, Masese Kemunche and Samuel Mwangi.
The petitioners filed an application with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) last Friday in which they sought to remove the lawmaker from office. Kimani left everyone in shock after appearing drunk at a public meeting on July 4, 2019 in Elburgon.
The meeting was meant to discuss the increased sale and consumption of illicit brew in the area. The petitioners now want the IEBC to declare the seat vacant to pave way for a by-election in the area.
“The petitioners want MP Kimani to be disqualified from holding any other State office for his indiscipline actions at a public meeting,” reads the petition, as quoted by the Standard.
The incident elicited mixed reactions from different quarters with many people asking the IEBC to take action against the lawmaker.
