Three suspects were on Thursday arrested by the flying squad officers on Thursday.

According to the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the arrests came after a tip-off from the police. 

The flying squad officers had to swing into action after they received information on the same. The suspects are Nicholas Opiyo (20), a resident of Kariobangi North Patrick Mburugu (36)  and Kelvin Oduor Demba (28) from Baba Dogo.

"Arrest and recovery of motor vehicles. Acting on a tip-off from members of the public, Flying Squad detectives managed to arrest three individuals believed to be in the business of selling stolen motor vehicles, tweeted the DCI.

 "The three suspects 20 years old Nicholas Opiyo, a resident of Kariobangi North, 28 years old Kelvin Oduor Demba from Baba Dogo & 36 years old Patrick Mburugu from Meru County but a resident of Ngara-Nairobi were trailed to Meru where a Toyota Fielder, registration number KCH 301R was recovered,” the DCI added.

DCI also said that the detectives have launched a probe in Nairobi to arrest other persons linked to the crime.

“In a similar operation in Nairobi County, @DCI_Kenya detectives intercepted two Toyota Hilux motor vehicles with double registration number KCE 600P and detained them pending further investigation,” DCI said.

The suspects are set to appear in court following their arrest.
