Wanga demands the battled governor to step down until his murder case is determined. This comes after Okoth's bail appeal hearing was suspended to September 27.

In an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday morning, Wanga has further urged Migori County Members of County Assembly to proceed with the impeachment process to kick Okoth out of office.

"What more do we need to convince the public that the Governor is involved. His aides and a car linked to one of his aides has been traced to the scene of the crime. This should be grounds enough for MCAs in Migori to start impeachment proceedings," she said.

However, Wiper's Secretary General Peter Mathuki has defended the governor as the court has not proved him guilty over the charges.

"There is a contradiction between the moral standards and the law. Morals dictate that if you are suspected to have committed these crimes you should step aside but the law states that you can only step aside when convicted," he said.

Governor Okoth has been facing murder charges over the death of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno whose body was found in Homa Bay.
