Veteran politician Koigi Wamwere has linked former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa's woes to his war of words with opposition leader Raila Odinga last year.
Echesa, a former Odinga ally, was at some point heard bashing Raila for engineering his woes, and even dared him to proceed and sack him if he had the power.
Speaking on Saturday, the former Subukia lawmaker faulted Echesa for failing to read the situation before picking a fight with the former Premier.
He observed that Raila is most likely the man behind his sacking on Friday and must have used his March 9, 2018 truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta to get back at the ex-CS.
"He dared Raila forgetting that this is a man very close to the President. He has his ignorance to blame for his sacking. This is most likely the work of Odinga," said Wamwere.
Wamwere who once served as an Assistant Cabinet Minister was speaking in an interview on Sauti Ya Mwananchi Radio's Cheche Show, Saturday evening.
He cautioned politicians against overlooking the former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party boss, observing that he holds a very major defacto position in Uhuru's government.
Wamwere who decamped from Jubilee to the Orange party after the 2017 polls said that the truce has empowered Raila and though he remains constitutionally a no one in the government, he wields massive powers.
"Uhuru remains the President but it is very clear that Raila is ruling alongside him. In his current position, he can convince Uhuru to do his will and will have it done," added Koigi.
But Raila has remained silent on Echesa's woes.
