Speaking on Citizen TV Tuesday evening, the former Gatanga lawmaker accused Deputy President William Ruto of bungling the party nominations ahead of the 2017 elections.

He claimed that Ruto successfully manipulated the primaries to plant his own candidates, most of whom proceeded to win after clinching the Jubilee ticket.

The same, he claimed, was done in the Jubilee strongholds of Central Kenya and Rift Valley, claiming that Ruto and team began by disabling the first primaries and forcing for a repeat.

"When we repeated the second nominations, all hell broke loose because some interested parties rigged out highly popular people, in some of our own areas in Mt Kenya and Rift Valley and planted the people they wanted," he claimed.

The allegations have been confirmed by former Mukurweini lawmaker Kabando Wa Kabando and nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura whose bid for the Ruiru parliamentary slot flopped.

Mwaura told the Standard on Thursday that the nominations were stained by cases of rigging, terming the process a 'sham'.

Kabando, on the other hand, termed the primaries as a scheme used by Ruto and team to end the political careers of some politicians he considered a threat.

The two are also enjoying the backing of former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth who lost the ticket to incumbent governor Mike Sonko in the same primaries
